Summer Schools
The working methodology of the PortADa project is structured around four Summer Schools. Each Summer School lasts two months and takes place once a year during the four-year duration of the project. They primarily involve the gathering of most of the researchers participating in PortADa to share progress, resolve difficulties, and exchange knowledge on historical and computing aspects related to the research. The co-location of the majority of the research team in the same time and place represents an innovation in this type of project. Through this mechanism, one of the project’s two main objectives is gradually achieved: the formation of a stable team of digital humanists. Each Summer School addresses pre-defined problems and, through teamwork, possible solutions to these problems are outlined with the simultaneous participation of experts in both history and computer science.
